Color psychology can be defined as the study of how colors affect people’s emotions and behavior. We react to colors in a variety of ways based on the complex interactions between our personal tastes, temperament, family environment in which we grew up, and our cultural background. Color can directly affect our perception. For example, it can increase or decrease our likelihood of tasting a food. It is possible to see the effect of colors on our perception even in the drugs we use. For example, blue is used for sedative or sleep disturbance drugs, while red or yellow colored drugs are often used for stimulant drug groups.

Big brands and businesses known to everyone consciously use the colors that are most suitable for their sectors in their product designs, packaging, advertisements and websites. Color psychology can be used to trigger perceptions of the customer target audience. This is an important part of graphic design. An effective graphic design should also take into account cultural differences in the way colors are perceived. For example, in European countries, white often symbolizes purity, but is a color of mourning in Japan, India, China, Korea, and the Middle East. When using colors, it is important to consider cultural differences and to analyze the customer target audience correctly.
